Esteban Gutiérrez finished second in The Race All-Star Series Pro Cup, after a technical failure prevented him from conquering the title.
After getting the Pole Position for the first race of the day, Esteban achieved his third victory in the championship. This helped him to increase the lead by 23 points over Aston Martin Racing driver Nicki Thiim.
However, a technical failure in the game prevented him from starting the second and final round, thus he was unable to defend the title; Thiim finished ninth and took the crown by five units.
“The first race was perfect. I got the Pole Position and the victory, so I believed that I could get a positive result on the reverse-grid race to secure the title.
“However, seconds before starting the last race, my game crashed, and I couldn’t participate. It’s a shame because we had everything to win the drivers and constructors’ championships”, said the Mercedes’ Reserve Driver.
“Regardless of the result, I am very happy to have represented Mercedes in this virtual championship and I am very grateful for my team’s great work”, he explained.
Next week, Esteban will return to the virtual tracks to participate in the Formula One Azerbaijan Grand Prix, in which he will seek his third consecutive podium.
