As part of the tribute to the Formula One legend, Ayrton Senna, the mexican driver Esteban Gutiérrez offered a real show for the fans in Brazil while driving the Mercedes W08, the title-winning car in 2017.
“Over the years, Ayrton Senna has become one of the greatest idols of all times in motorsports. What he represented for his country was beyond the love brazilians had for this sport.
“That is why it was an honor for me to be part of this festival in Sao Paulo and it was very special being able to participate representing Mercedes”, said Gutiérrez.
Ayrton Senna passed away on 1 May, 1994, after an accident at the San Marino Grand Prix.
Aware of the importance that Ayrton has in the history of Formula One, Heineken, Senna’s family and F1, organized this event to celebrate his 25-year legacy.
The festival also featured the participation of Felipe Massa and Emerson Fittipaldi, brazilian idols who got the chance to drive two of Senna’s iconic cars: the Toleman TG184, which he used in his F1 debut in 1984, and the Lotus 97T, which gave him his first victory in the category in Estoril, Portugal, on April 21, 1985.
“It was very exciting to see all those people gathered to remember Ayrton. That proves the impact he had and will continue to have in this sport, especially in Brazil”, said Esteban.
