For the third consecutive race, Esteban Gutiérrez reached the podium in the Formula One Virtual championship after crossing the finish line of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in third place.
After qualifying fourth, Mercedes reserve driver managed to advance to third place at the start of the race by overtaking Louis Deletraz on the first corner.
On Lap 7, Gutiérrez pitted to change to medium tires and although he returned to the track in sixth place, his great pace helped him to overtake his teammate Anthony Davidson and McLaren’s driver Tiametmarduk a few laps later to get back to the Top 3.
“It was a very clean race and I am very happy to have achieved my third consecutive podium. In the end I started having problems with my tires but I managed to keep up the pace to remain it third place.
“I’m happy to see the progress I have made. Being constant in the simulator has been the key to being able to be at this level and compete with drivers who already had a lot of experience in esports ”, said the Mexican.
The last Virtual Grand Prix will be held in Canada next week, as the official start of the 2020 Formula One season is scheduled to start the first week of July in Austria.
