Back to the F1 Paddock for 2019 season

BARCELONA-. Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez made his first appearance this year at the Formula One Paddock in Barcelona during the second pre-season test 2019.

After having been working from the factory, Esteban went to Montmeló Circuit this week to work alongside the Mercedes team and directly support them from the track for the development of the W10 car, which Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will be testing on the Spanish track.

“We have been working a lot in the factory and in the simulator evaluating the results we obtained during the tests. In this week’s program we focus on the aerodynamic updates we brought and the overall reliability and that is why we tried to shoot long runs, except on the last day when we explored the potential of the car”, said Gutierrez.

Although Mercedes is still not satisfied with the current performance of the car, the Mexican driver says that with all the information they collected throughout the tests they will continue working to have the car in optimal conditions for the first Grand Prix of the 2019 season in Australia.

“These last days were very important to find the optimal balance of the car to get in very good shape to the first race in Melbourne. Although we were not completely satisfied with our speed, we completed 1,200 laps in eight days, which without a doubt was a great achievement. The whole team is very motivated working day and night to have the car in the best conditions for the start of the season”.

“It will be a very competitive campaign, probably the most competitive we have seen in recent years, but we have the best team and we are very excited to get this season started”.
